From the very first sketch to the final polish, working on these earrings has been such a joy. Hearts are one of those timeless symbols that never go out of style, and we wanted to create a version that felt truly ours — something handmade, warm, and full of personality.

The inspiration came from wanting to move away from the perfectly symmetrical, almost clinical heart shape you see everywhere. We wanted something that felt more like a heart you'd doodle in the margin of a notebook — a little lopsided, a little free, completely full of feeling.

The Beauty of an Organic Shape

So what exactly do we mean by organic? It means these hearts aren't perfectly geometric. They're not stamped out by a machine to be identical every single time. Each one has a gentle, natural flow to it — one side might curve a little differently from the other, the dip at the top has its own character, and the point at the bottom tapers in a way that feels alive rather than mechanical.

This natural imperfection is the whole point. It's what gives these studs their warmth and makes them feel genuinely handmade. No two pairs are exactly alike, and we think that's something really special. When you wear them, you're wearing something that carries a little bit of human touch in every curve.

Why Silver?

We chose sterling silver for these studs because it's simply one of the most beautiful metals to work with. It has this wonderful quality of catching the light in a soft, luminous way — not flashy or over-the-top, just a gentle, warm gleam that works with any outfit and any skin tone.

Sterling silver is also wonderfully tactile. It has a satisfying weight to it — substantial enough to feel like quality, but light enough to wear all day without a second thought. It's a metal that ages beautifully too, developing a subtle patina over time that only adds to its character. We love that these earrings will look even more yours the longer you wear them.

The Handmade Process

Making these studs by hand is a labour of love, and every step matters. We start by melting sterling silver and pouring it into rough, organic moulds — no cutting, no templates, no two exactly alike. The heart shapes emerge naturally from the metal itself, which is exactly what gives them that beautifully imperfect, handmade character.

Once the hearts have cooled and been released from the mould, we refine each one by hand — filing, smoothing, and coaxing it into its final form. A small silver post is then carefully soldered to the back, and the whole piece goes through a thorough cleaning and polishing process. We check every single pair before they leave the bench, making sure the finish is just right and the posts are perfectly secure. It's slow, careful work, and we wouldn't have it any other way.

The Finished Result

When you put these on, they sit so sweetly against the ear. Because each heart is formed from molten metal in a rough mould rather than stamped or cut, they have a lovely organic presence — natural edges, a gentle irregularity, and a warmth that machine-made jewellery simply can't replicate. Customers who've seen early pairs have described them as the earrings you reach for every day, and that's exactly what we were going for.
