Permanent Bracelets, Anklets & Bangles
- What is a permanent bracelet? +
- A permanent bracelet is a delicate chain bracelet welded directly onto your wrist — no clasp, no fuss. It stays on through everyday life, showers and swimming until you choose to cut it off. The fitting is completely painless.
- What is a permanent anklet? +
- A permanent anklet is exactly the same concept as a permanent bracelet — a fine chain welded onto your ankle with no clasp. Choose from our full range of 100+ chains. Just let us know when booking that you'd like an anklet fitting.
- What is a permanent bangle — and how is it different? +
- A permanent bangle is a solid loop of sterling silver, joined with a charm of your choice and welded permanently in place. Unlike a chain bracelet, it is a rigid bangle form — more of a statement piece. We are the only studio in the North of England currently offering permanent bangle fittings.
- Does the fitting hurt? +
- Not at all. The weld takes just a second and there is no heat felt on the skin. Most customers are genuinely surprised at how quick and painless the whole process is.
- How long does a fitting take? +
- Around 15–20 minutes from choosing your chain to wearing your finished piece. Group sessions take a little longer depending on numbers — just let us know your group size when you book.
- How many chains do you have? +
- Over 100. We stock sterling silver, gold fill and stainless steel chains in a wide range of styles — classic, twisted, cable, satellite, figaro and more — covering every taste and every price point. 9 Karat Gold is also available on request with a little advance notice to order.
- What metals are available? +
- We stock sterling silver, gold fill and stainless steel as standard. 9 Karat Gold is available on request — just give us a little notice so we can order it in for you.
- Can I shower, swim, or exercise with it on? +
- Yes — that's the whole point. Permanent jewellery is designed to be worn through everyday life, including showering, swimming and exercise. Sterling silver and gold fill may develop a natural patina over time, but this can be gently cleaned to restore the original finish.
- How do I remove permanent jewellery? +
- Simply cut the chain with small scissors or nail clippers at the weld point. It is that easy. We can also remove it for you at the studio if you prefer.
- Can I bring a group? +
- Absolutely — we love hen dos, birthday groups and BFF fittings. Groups of all sizes are welcome. Just add your group size in the notes when you book and we'll plan the session around you.
- Where are you based — do you come to my area? +
- Our permanent jewellery studio is in Darlington, County Durham. We also regularly attend events across the North of England — including Durham, Newcastle, Sunderland, Hartlepool, York and Leeds. Follow us on social media or check our website for upcoming event dates.
- Is permanent jewellery suitable for children? +
- We recommend permanent jewellery for older children and teenagers with parental consent. The process is painless, but the jewellery is permanent — so it's worth making sure they're happy with the commitment before booking.
Handmade Jewellery
- What materials do you use? +
- We work in sterling silver, gold fill, resin and more — incorporating precious and semi-precious stones, and locally gathered Seaham seaglass. Every piece is individually handmade by Melissa at our Darlington studio.
- What is Seaham seaglass? +
- Seaham seaglass is Victorian glass that the sea has spent over a century smoothing on the beach at Seaham, County Durham. The result is unique, frosted pieces in rare and beautiful colours — no two pieces are alike. Melissa gathers it by hand and sets it in sterling silver jewellery.
- Are pieces made to order? +
- Yes — most of our handmade jewellery pieces are made individually to order. This means you're getting something genuinely unique, made with care, not pulled from a mass-produced stock.
- Can I request a bespoke piece? +
- Yes — bespoke orders are very welcome. Get in touch via our contact page to discuss a custom piece. We can work in sterling silver, gold fill or resin, with precious stones, semi-precious stones or Seaham seaglass. Please allow extra time for bespoke work.
- How do I care for sterling silver jewellery? +
- Sterling silver can tarnish over time, especially when exposed to moisture, perfumes and chemicals. Store it in a cool, dry place — ideally in an airtight pouch — when not wearing it. Polish gently with a soft silver cloth to restore shine. Avoid harsh chemicals including bleach and chlorine.
- How do I care for gold fill jewellery? +
- Gold fill is a thick bonded gold layer over a base metal, and is much more durable than gold plating. Avoid submerging in harsh chemicals and store separately to prevent scratches. It can be gently wiped with a soft cloth to maintain its lustre.
- What is the difference between gold fill and gold plating? +
- Gold fill has a thick, mechanically bonded layer of gold — typically 100 times thicker than gold plating. It is significantly more durable and long-lasting, and will not peel or fade with normal wear. Gold plating is a thin coat that can wear away relatively quickly.
